Welcome to Vegan Nose! I am Sharina Nicola. For the past 7 years, I’ve focused on health, fitness and plant based foods. My goal is to inspire people who question whether plant based foods taste the same as or better than non-plant based foods.
My experience with Helicobacter Pylori led me to a vegan lifestyle. Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pylori) is a type of bacteria. This bacteria can enter your body and live in your digestive tract which can eventually cause sores (ulcers) in the lining of your stomach or the upper part of your small intestine. For some people, this may lead to stomach cancer. Unfortunately, I was one of those people.
Life with this condition was very painful. My family and I were desperate to find answers. I started with making changes to my diet. I noticed dairy, meats and some forms of sugar would make me irritable and cause headaches and bloating. I was overall miserable. I eventually decided to eliminate dairy, meat and sugar and do a 30-day cleanse. My WHOLE WORLD changed for the better! I became pain free and the cancer was gone!
The next challenge in my transition was determining how I would maintain my strength. I had to determine how I would get the necessary protein and calcium? Some primary sources are kale, chickpeas, lentils and much more!
It’s important for me to share this information because I’ve encountered so many women with some of the same stomach problems.
Being from the South, taste was a priority! Another goal was to find spices and ingredients that provided quality flavor that would satisfy my taste buds!! Lol
My favorite breakfast food is pancakes and my grandmother’s homemade grits. As I traveled the world, I could never find the buttery pancake flavor in the vegan lifestyle that I remembered from my childhood. So, I decided to create my own recipe! It took me 2 years to create this mix with only THREE ingredients! I was impressed and it is my goal that you are too. I hope you enjoyed my story and experience your own life changes through these recommendations as we unlearn everything we’ve learned together.
