Cyrus Khambatta, PhD
Cyrus Khambatta, PhD, is a cofounder of Mastering Diabetes and is an internationally recognized nutrition and fitness coach who has been living with type 1 diabetes since 2002. Using an evidence-based approach to nutrition and fitness, he first reduced his own insulin usage by more than 40%, and has educated thousands of people with all forms of diabetes how to reverse insulin resistance using food as medicine. Cyrus earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 2003, then earned a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from the University of California at Berkeley in 2012. He is the co-host of the annual Mastering Diabetes Online Summit, a featured speaker at the Plant-Based Nutrition and Healthcare Conference (PBNHC), the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) Conference, Plant Stock, and has been featured on Forks Over Knives, NPR, PBS, KQED, Fast Company, and is the author of the upcoming book Mastering Diabetes.
Robby Barbaro
Robby Barbaro, MPH graduated from the University of Florida in 2011 and earned a master‘s of public health from American Public University in 2019 and is the cofounder of Mastering Diabetes and Amla Green. He spent six years helping build the revolutionary Forks Over Knives empire before turning his attention in 2016 to coaching people with diabetes full time. Robby was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in January of 2000 at the age of 12 and has been living a plant-based lifestyle since 2006. In that time, while eating pounds of fruit every day, his HbA1c values have ranged between 5.3% and 6.6%, and his blood glucose has been stable and easy to manage. He is the co-host of the annual Mastering Diabetes Online Summit, a featured speaker at VegFest LA, Plant Stock, the Torrance Memorial Medical Center, and has been featured on Forks Over Knives, Healthline, Vice, Thrive Magazine, Diet Fiction, Michelle Kare, Mercy For Animals, and the wildly popular podcasts Medical Medium, and Plant Proof and Nutrition Rounds. He has also been profiled in the bestselling book The Plant-Based Solution by Joel Kahn, MD
